Nic is a writer, teacher and - currently - doctoral researcher at the Shakespeare Institute at the University of Birmingham. In 2022, Nic and Wendy, his wife, moved to North Wales to take on a substantial property overlooking the Dee Valley and develop it into a retreat centre for writers and other artists. The first paying retreat took place in May 2023 and Nic's blog seeks to chart the progress of the retreat from the first week of full operation onwards.

Acting and Memoir Writing
This week, and long overdue, I am reading Mary Karr's The Art of Memoir. And yet again the link between acting and writing is at the forefront of the text - although I'm not sure how much Karr herself realises this (maybe it will become clear in due course). Acting and Writing
N.B. The following blog was drafted, coincidentally, just one day before I read page 114 of Bernadine Evaristo's autobiography, in which she confirms the influence of acting on her writing.
