Residential Writing Retreats and Shakespeare Holidays

A Place to Write provides all-inclusive full-board residential writing retreats and Shakespeare holidays in a peaceful North Wales' location overlooking the stunning Dee Valley. Retreats and holidays run from Monday to Friday with some weekend options also available. Accommodation is in a historic Victorian property built by a former sheriff of Denbigh, with extensive grounds and inspiring views.

We welcome writers of fiction and non-fiction at all stages of their writing career from aspiring writer to published author, including novice writers, academic writers, PhD students, screenwriters and professional copywriters.

All of our guests enjoy homely full board accommodation in one of our spacious fully ensuite bedrooms. Delicious homecooked meals and refreshments are provided, catering to all dietary needs, along with a choice of places and spaces to relax, be creative and write. On every retreat we offer a structured schedule designed to ensure that you leave with new chapters drafted, a plan for development in place, increased confidence in your writing and in yourself, and maybe even a finished book.

Whichever part of our programme interests you, Nic and Wendy will support you as much or as little as you want and guide you through your stay. You can even use our base to venture out for a reflective walk on hills, mountain climbs, riverbank trails or to tackle any of the many other varied activities in the local area.
