About the event
A Unique Shakespeare Retreat exploring Shakespeare's major tragedies with a particular focus on Macbeth, King Lear and Hamlet
Arrive on Sunday 10th November for our evening welcome dinner, or on the morning of Monday 11th November for our first play reading, and stay in one of our spacious ensuite rooms through to check-out on Friday 15th November. During your stay you will have the opportunity to observe or participate in:
- a guided reading of one play each day, followed by a group discussion
- two extended workshops exploring Shakespeare's language and verse
- two lecture-style presentations on aspects of Shakespeare's work related to his tragedies, followed by Q&A
- a panel discussion of Shakespeare's tragedies with Q&A
- four creative response sessions (in which you have a chance to respond to Shakespeare's plays in writing, visual art or drama - or explore the local landscape)
- a candlelit presentation on the effects of candlelight in Shakespeare's plays
- a showing and discussion of at least one film or TV adaptation of one of the tragedies
The total cost for your own superior ensuite room on this retreat, full board with all activites (and stunning views across the Dee Valley from your room), is just £995 incl VAT for the week.

If you wish to book for two people sharing a room (either in twin or double beds), with all meals included, there is an additional charge of just £495 incl VAT for the second person - so share the cost and bring a like-minded friend!
There is a non-refundable deposit of £145 per person, payable at time of booking. The balance is payable on or before Sunday 10th November 2024.
