For the first time in what seems like weeks, the sun is out at A Place to Write - just in time for us to welcome eight new writers to our March tutored retreat! A Place to Write always looks glorious in sunshine, as do the views across the valley, and today's weather is befitting the range of writers joining us for the next five days.

Since last April we will have welcomed more than 40 writers to our tutored and untutored retreats - a mix of novelists, short story writers, diarists, writers of memoirs, journalists, and PhD researchers writing up their theses. Every group brings a fresh dynamic and one of the joys of running retreats over the past 12 months has been the pleasure which retreaters get from our unique venue, Wendy's wonderful menus, and the outstandingly beautiful natural surroundings. We are sure this week will be no different and, with writers this week coming from places as far apart as Devon and North Yorkshire, we can't wait to welcome our new retreat group and introduce them to the delights of A Place to Write.

As for the building and grounds: the stone circle is slowly progressing - the sun coming out will speed that progress! - and this last week has seen the beginning of some redecoration in the main house. This work, as past guests will know, is part of a long term plan to make the amazing William Morris decor just a little more contemporary, without losing the atmosphere and feel created by the William Morris designs. With more retreats programmed through the rest of 2024, and bookings steadily increasing, things continue to go from strength to strength here in Corwen. Our July retreat is already almost sold out and our new Shakespeare retreats have begun selling for the autumn too.
The sun is certainly shining on us. Long may it continue! And welcome to all the writers coming to join us at A Place to Write this week... We're ready for you!
